Usually businesses don’t just happen. They emerge as an answer to a question, a problem or, in our case, multiple requests. So today I thought I’d share with you how Swarm came in to being. And why I love my job.
Why did we create Swarm?
We’ve worked in the digital world for a long time, and had time and time again been approached by friends who wanted a great looking website for their projects and businesses, but who didn’t necessarily have the funds to get a bespoke site. There are obviously plenty of other services out there who offer out-of-the-box websites, marketing themselves on being easy to use, even for the technophobes. These solutions are great, unless you want flexibility. And most people want flexibility.
So we’d point people to WordPress. The great thing about WordPress websites is that there are thousands of designs to choose from and once you’re all set up, it’s easy to edit and update. The downside is that the building of the website itself often requires some expertise. Good news was – we have this expertise. All of the big website projects we’d been involved in were built on the WordPress platform, so why not use this knowledge and skill to develop a product that could provide small businesses and start-ups with professional looking and well performing websites. Swarm was born.
What do we love about it?
Creating a Swarm WordPress website is a really exciting process. Every single one of our clients is so different, and getting to know them and their business is one of my favourite parts of the job. Some of our clients have been in business for years, whilst others are just getting started, but similar for all of them is that they are really excited about where their business is going, and how the website we create for them can help them get there.
With our backgrounds, from digital, business and communication, we’re able to give our clients more than ‘just’ the framework of the site. Usually we also help out with determining the navigation of the site, tone of voice and visual style. We try and give all of the input and guidance we can, figuring out what solution works best for that particular client.
With our Swarm sites we always aim to give our clients a site which doesn’t feel like it has just been plucked out of a box of themes. We want our clients to end up with a website, which they whole heartedly feel is unique to them, and showcases what is so special about them and their business. Something we can only achieve when we work closely with our clients.
